Lauren Brasile, Ph. D.

President, Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Brasile is a Founder, President and C.E.O. of BREONICS, Inc., and is the inventor of the patents that cover BREONICS’ Exsanguinous Metabolic Support and Immunosuppressive technologies. She has over 30 years experience in transplantation medicine, immunology and kidney preservation, with numerous publications in medical journals as well as 3 chapters in textbooks. Since founding BREONICS Dr. Brasile successfully acquired the combined venture, corporate and grant support needed to complete the pre-clinical testing phase necessary to position the technology for the clinic. She previously was awarded a 2-year special emphasis grant from the National Institute Allergy Infectious Disease (NIAID) and a 3-year RC3 BRDG-SPAN award from the National Institute of Digestive Disease and Kidney (NIDDK) with a cumulative total of $3.3 Million. As the Director of Research Laboratories for the Department of Surgery at Albany Medical Center her work led to more than $2-million in research funding from the NIH. While Director, she supervised a staff of 19 research fellows and technologists. She also served as the supervisor of the Transplant Research Laboratories at Ohio State University in the 1970’s with a joint appointment in the Clinical Histocompatibility Laboratory supporting the Clinical Transplantation Program. Dr. Brasile received her Ph.D. in the Medical Sciences and Surgery from the University of Maastricht, The Netherlands. She has previously served on a Special NIH Review Panel for Immunology and is a member of the American Society of Transplantation (AST) and the International Transplant Congress (ITC). In 1998 Dr. Brasile was honored as “Inventor of the Year” by the Eastern New York State Intellectual Property Law Association.

Bart M. Stubenitsky, M.D., Ph.D.

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Stubenitsky has over 14 years experience in clinical kidney transplantation, kidney preservation and reconstructive surgery. He received his M.D. from the University of Maastricht in The Netherlands and was involved in the Clinical Renal Transplant Program that was the first in Europe to readdress using the Deceased by Cardiac Donor. Dr. Stubenitsky is a recipient of a Dutch Kidney Foundation Award for his research at the University of Maastricht concerning Warm Organ Preservation that led to his collaboration with Dr. Brasile and BREONICS. Dr. Stubenitsky also completed a fellowship at the University of Toronto, Sick Kids Hospital and is a practicing reconstructive surgeon. He will be directly involved in the EMS clinical development program and is a valuable resource for developing other medical applications for EMS.
